The Canon Lens Hood EW-60C fits the following lenses:

Lens hoods are designed to prevent lens flare from light that hits the front element of the lens when in bright light. Also, a lens hood will give some added protection from accidental impact. The hood can be reversed on the lens for storage when not in use.
