The Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF-S DX Zoom is dubbed as the world's first constant f/2.8 lens with 3.2x zoom capability that is developed specifically for use with Nikon DX format and optimized for Nikon digital SLR cameras. The 3.2x zoom capability of the lens covers from a wide angle of 79 degrees to a narrower angle of 28 degrees. This makes the lens suited for landscape, portrait, architecture photography and other general uses.

The lens uses three Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements and aspheric lens to minimize chromatic aberrations, distortion, flare and ghosting which ultimately gives your images higher resolution and a superior contrast.

Meanwhile, the use of the Silent Wave Motor (SWM) enables the lens to achieve a fast and quiet autofocus. The lens has two focus modes: the M/A and M mode and you can make a rapid switch between the AF and MF operation easily. The Internal Focusing design also allows for smoother and quieter focusing.
