Nikon AF-S Nikkor 500mm f/4.0G ED VR Lens

Like other Nikon's high-performance lenses, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 500mm f/4.0G ED VR Lens is robust, lightweight and reliable. The lens features a magnesium die-cast barrel and professional grade moisture and dust resistant construction.

This super-fast, telephoto lens is optimized for edge-to-edge sharpness on both DX and FX format. It also utilizes Nikon's Vibration Reduction II (VR) to reduce the effects of camera shake allowing you to shoot as many as four shutter speed. The new and handy tripod detection mode helps reduce vibration that may occur due to shutter release when attached on a tripod.

The lens also boasts three Extra-low Dispersion (ED) elements to reduce chromatic aberrations, while at the same time enhancing color, contrast and sharpness of the picture even at the widest aperture settings. It is then coated with Nano Crystal and protective glass element to further reduce flare and ghosting; for even greater image clarity.

Powered by Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM), the lens can achieve super quiet and fast autofocus operation.
