DJI Inspire 1 Quadcopter with 4K Camera and 3-Axis Gimbal

6.00 LBS

With interest in aerial photography and videography at an all-time high DJI has unveiled the DJI Inspire 1, a flying video and still photography platform that they're calling a "game changer." The lightweight, durable flying machine carries a 4K video camera, and its carbon-fiber arms can be moved out of the way in flight to provide a 360-degree unobstructed view. A remote control unit offers a full array of auto and manual exposure, focus, and positioning options, and the unit is capable stable flight in both outdoor and indoor situations.

Weighing in at a relatively lightweight 6 pounds, the DJI Inspire 1 is said to be more advanced than the DJU Phantom drone. It can fly as high as 300 meters, fly at speeds up to 45 miles per hour, and has a range of up to 700 meters from the operator. The 4K video camera—DJI's first—can be rotated 360 degrees. The carbon-fiber propeller arms can lift out of the way while the unit is in flight for an unobstructed view. HD video can be streamed back to a mobile device in real time using an App. An optional dual-operator control is available so one person can pilot the drone while another operates the camera. The lens consists of 9 elements in 9 groups, including an aspherical element for clearer images. Stills are captured in Adobe DNG RAW. The unit can be controlled via either the remote control or via a mobile device app that lets you control exposure and focus manually, as well as flight telemetry and auto takeoff and landing.

Other features include: Live Map and Radar, which displays where the Inspire 1 is at all times on a live map and the most recent flight path. Dynamic Home Point automatically refreshes when GPS is available—a useful feature when traveling in a car or on a boat so the "return to home" point moves as the operator moves. Auto Takeoff and Landing is done via an on-screen tap: tap once for takeoff and the Inspire 1 will hover and transform so it is ready to start filming. Tap again and it will transform into landing mode and land automatically. Flight Telemetry provides flight information including altitude, flight speed, and distance.
