Step into the future of dictation with the Olympus DS-2700, an intuitive handheld digital recorder stereo internal omnidirectional mics for clear capture of speech at any angle. With simple and efficient 4-position slide switch control and flexible features like Insert and Overwrite recording modes, the DS-2700 is an ideal choice for legal or business practices and note-taking during meetings.

The DS-2700 can record audio in DSS, PCM WAV, and MP3 formats, offering a diverse range of options to fit different workflows or storage capacities. The internal NAND memory provides up to 2GB of storage capacity and the device sports an SD-card slot that supports up to 32GB cards. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack ensures up to 50 hours of battery life for playback and up to 54 hours when recording PCM audio in stereo. The DS-2700 includes a micro-USB-B cable and the ODMS R8 dictation software for efficient management and transmission of audio files as well as many more useful functions.

Recording System
Directional Stereo Recording
Experience versatile recording with the built-in stereo microphones, providing both Dictation and Conference modes. Tailor your recording experience further by selecting from three microphone sensitivity options. Opt for High sensitivity for crisp conference recordings, choose Mid for effective dictation, or select Low for optimal, up-close recording.
Low-Noise Microphone Unit
The DS-2700 incorporates low noise omnidirectional microphones. The built-in shock absorber covers the microphone unit, reducing handling noise from the body.
Studio-Grade Pop Filter
The microphone housing now includes a triple-layered pop filter, which helps block the wind noise and plosive sounds when speaking into the microphones.
Dictation Mode
For classic dictation of your notes or reports, the main microphone will be recording in omnidirectional mode so that the recorder can be held in any way.
Conference Mode
Designed for interviews and small meetings, Conference recording controls the directionality of the two microphones and shifts them into a 90° layout, which enables high-quality recording in a realistic stereo capture. Regardless of where the person speaking is located or the direction of speech, you can clearly capture the information.
Flexible Audio Recording Formats
The DSS format promises effective compression without compromising quality in digital voice capture. The digital speech standard (DSS) allows for quick file editing (insert, overwrite, append, erase/cut) and uses meta information (index, verbal comments, worktypes, etc.) to facilitate collaboration and automatic processing.

 

PCM format, with its minimal compression, ensures exceptional quality as well as compatibility with a variety of playback tools. Simultaneously, the widely utilized MP3 format serves as an excellent choice for storing consumer audio and enables easy transfer/playback of music on digital audio players.

Noise-Activated Recording with VCVA
The VCVA function efficiently manages memory by pausing recording during quiet intervals and automatically restarting when it detects sound exceeding a preset threshold. This feature optimizes playback efficiency and prolongs recording time.
Index Marks
While recording or playing back, you have the flexibility to insert up to 32 Index Marks into an audio file. These marks act as handy indicators, helping you identify crucial or noteworthy segments of your dictation.
Insert and Overwrite Recording Modes
Unlock different recording options with the DS-2700. Use Insert mode to seamlessly add recordings into existing audio files without the need for additional addendums. Overwrite mode enables you to record over previous dictation at any chosen point.

 

Lastly, Append mode effortlessly adds a new recording to the end of an existing file. With the addition of the New File creation button, you don’t need to start a new recording until you are ready.

The DS-2700 features a 2.4" TFT color LCD. Featuring a live recording monitor and an easily accessible, intuitive menu system—all at a glance.
4-Position Slide Switch Control
Experience effortless dictation with the user-friendly optical slide switch, enabling you to start, stop, and edit recordings seamlessly without the need to divert your attention to the device.
Recording Storage
With 2GB of built-in memory, the DS-2700 also accommodates external SD cards up to 32GB (available separately). Effortlessly transfer your recordings to your PC by utilizing the provided micro-USB type-B cable.
3.5mm Mic and Headphone Connections
Headphones can be connected to monitor or playback your recordings. Additional microphones such as boundary, shotgun, or a lavalier can be used for specific situations via the 3.5mm input.
Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery
