Designed as a wired companion to the Ninja TX and Ninja TX GO, the Atomos Ninja RAW 5.2" HDMI Monitor/Recorder from Atomos is a compact on-camera monitor and recorder ideal for use on professional sets and for content creators. Features include HDMI 2.0 input/output, camera control, a bright 1500 cd/m² touchscreen display, ProRes raw recording, recording to CFexpress Type B or USB-C, a tally light, NDI/HX3 and camera-to-cloud via an optional USB-C adapter, and all codecs such as ProRes RAW/DNx/H.265 are built in.
5.2" Touchscreen Display
The 5.2" IPS touchscreen of the Ninja RAW offers a 1920 x 1080 resolution with a bright 1500 cd/m² display for rich, accurate color precision, even in broad daylight. The 8/10-bit color processing, HDR support, Rec. 709 color gamut, and Calibrite ColorChecker Display Pro/Plus calibration support ensure color-accurate, high-quality monitoring of your footage.
Updated Linux Operating System
Designed for the Ninja TX/TX GO/RAW, the AtomOS Linux operating system provides updated tools, a sleeker design, and more efficient, cooler operation.
Comprehensive Color and Metadata
The Ninja RAW supports the use of select Sony, ARRI, JVC, RED, FUJIFILM, Nikon, Panasonic, and Canon log formats. Upload custom 3D LUTs to the monitor and output HDR conversion to Log, HLG, PQ, or Dolby Vision formats.
You can record raw metadata such as white balance, exposure index, shutter speed/angle, iris f-stop, ISO, gamma, and gamut.
HDMI Input/Output
The HDMI input supports up to 8K30, DCI/UHD 4K60, and 1080p120 video.
A loop-through output passes the incoming HDMI signal from the camera to another device, such as an external monitor, wireless transmitter, or live streaming encoder.
Tally Light
Adding a tally light to the Ninja RAW is a simple process to provide a clear visual indicator of when the camera is recording or broadcasting.
When the Ninja is recording, the light automatically turns red (live/on-air). If the tally light is green, it indicates to the talent that the camera/monitor-recorder is on preview or standby.
Recording/USB Features
The Ninja RAW features a CFexpress Type B slot and dual USB-C recording outputs supporting ultrafast data transfer rates based on PCIe and NVMe protocols, designed for scalability and futureproofing. In addition to recording directly to storage, the USB-C ports can also be used for calibration, uploading custom 3D LUTs, adding audio devices, and firmware updates.
As of the AtomOS 12.2.1 free, over-the-air/download update, the Ninja RAW can record ProRes RAW from the Canon EOS R6 Mark III camera. RAW recording on the Canon EOS R6 Mark III supports up to 6960 x 3672p30 and 4320 x 2278p60.
Power Options
An L-series battery plate on the back of the Ninja RAW can support NP-F L-series batteries. An optional battery eliminator can be used to provide DC power to the monitor.
A USB-C port supports 30W PD power delivery with the included cable.
SegmentPro
The SegmentPro feature allows you to segment/split long recordings into smaller, user-defined chunks, all without dropping a frame so you can fit your files into any workflow.
This makes it easier to share smaller files to minimize the risk of losing one large file.
Optional Network Options
With a separately available USB-C network adapter, you can add a Camera to Cloud (C2C) workflow that allows you to upload your video files directly from your monitor-recorder to the cloud. Atomos supports direct progressive upload to their own cloud platform, ATOMOSphere, as well as Adobe Frame.io and Dropbox.
Via the optional network adapter, it can also be fully integrated into an NDI environment, either as an NDI source, visible to all other authorized devices on the network, or as an NDI receiver, providing high-quality, low-bandwidth video.
Comprehensive Monitoring Tools
The Ninja RAW offers a comprehensive suite of simple, one-touch monitoring tools for focus, framing, and exposure, including focus peaking, zoom (2:1, 1:1), zebras, false color (including ARRI and EL Zone), frame guides, SMPTE safe areas, grid markers, waveforms, RGB parade, vectorscope, and flexible 3D/1D LUT support with profile and preset options (including .cube file uploads). It also provides anamorphic de-squeeze monitoring to correct the ratio for anamorphic lens setups.
Control Options
Multifunction control buttons work in tandem with the touchscreen interface for intuitive onboard control
Auto HDMI camera trigger is supported by Canon and Sony cameras using the Atomos Open Standard
LANC control and calibration can be accessed using a separately available USB-C to serial connection cable
Camera control will be enabled on the monitor after the latest OTA firmware update
