The Sky-Watcher Heliostar 76mm f/8.3 H-Alpha Solar Telescope is a dedicated optic for solar viewing only. This is no general-use refractor with a solar filter over the aperture—the Heliostar is built with a highly precise Solis etalon bandpass filter, refined by a Trifid tuner, to block all but a 0.55-angstrom sliver of hydrogen-alpha light. That light, in the 656.3nm wavelength, permits observation of solar phenomena in rich detail, including prominences, filaments, sunspots, and solar flares.
The Heliostar also features a blocking filter in the eyepiece diagonal and meets ISO 12312 safety standards. It comes with a 20mm 1.25" eyepiece with a 70° angle of view that provides 32x magnification and a smartphone adapter so you can capture and share the remarkable sights you see.
