This whole-lens focusing system features coils and magnets arranged in a circle to match the shape of the lens barrel. This minimizes any increase in outer diameter, resulting in a slim, high-torque autofocus mechanism that can be instantly switched to manual focus with a twist of the focus ring.
The autofocus performance is slower than an STM/HLA system, making it less suited to the demands of video autofocus.
