A camera bag makes a great gift because even though a photographer may have one already, they are usually expanding their collection of gear and need more room. Additionally because there are so many kinds of bags many photographer have multiple bags for specific purposes.
After you purchase a camera the next obvious thing is getting a camera bag for it. Every once in a while someone will show up to a class with a camera in a canvas tote bag, or worse a plastic grocery bag. Your camera is a highly sophisticated piece of equipment that needs to be put into a protected bag made specifically for cameras that is shock proof and protects it from dust.
Camera bags come in all shapes and sizes and honestly you probably need more than one as you accumulate gear. Many times when you a purchase a camera from a store they ’package’ it with a ‘free bag”, take it from me these bags are usually not the best made and most times do not have the functionality that a good camera bag will have.
